reading books on other computers 1 Year, 11 Months ago
I download some books to my iMac where they worked just fine, When I downloaded them to my Mac laptop. they won't open. Adobe Reader just sits there with a dialogue box that says 'Searchong for Updates/' I have the current version so that ca't be the issue. Are you limited to how many computers you can have the books on? When I first joined, I may have put some on a PC to see if I could see it better than the Mac. I couldn't so I don't use the PC. The laptop goes with me everwhere, so it's important to get it to work. Suggestions?

Also, I have boxes of books (science, history, religion, etc) that I would donate if you'd use them. What are you looking for? Suggestions for other places to donate?

Thanks.

First, double check that your laptop has the FileOpen Plug-In installed and an active Internet connection. We suggest using the Active-X installer, but the decision is yours.

Members are granted offline access on 1 computer (opening 121files without an Internet connection). Additionaly, you are granted online access on up to 5 computers daily (they will need an Internet connection every time they open a 121file). This is further explained in our FAQ section.

It sounds like your laptop is your primary computer and the one that should have offline permissions. Post an update when you are able to open 121files on your laptop, probably with online permissions. We can then delete the computer that is listed for offline permissions. You may then use the laptop and our Permissions Server will register it as you primary offline computer. But first, let's make sure you can use the laptop.

Finally we, and your fellow members, would appreciate any books you are able to send in. If you found them useful, others will too.

Post edited by: 121support, at: 2007/01/29 08:55
